New Jets HC Aaron Glenn Is Such A Used Car Salesman

Today was a big day for the New York Jets, as the organization welcomed former Detroit Lions’ DC Aaron Glenn as their next Head Coach. The 52-year old Glenn becomes the franchise’s 9th head coach since the year 2000; joining the likes of Robert Saleh, Todd Bowles, and Adam Gase as humans who’ve lead the green and white since the turn of the century.

It’s a big moment for the ‘Big Apple,’ as the Jets attempt to claw their way out of the hole they’ve been in for quite some time. But the question that I have for the incoming Glenn is…..do you know what you signed up for? Are you aware of the mess that you just took control of?

I ask this because, well……because of this!

“Put your seat belts on and get ready for a ride.” “We are the freaking New York Jets and we’re built for this shit.” These are just some of the key phrases that Glenn gave to the world today during his press conference with the team. He attempted (and I do mean ATTEMPTED) to build up some sort of “hype” and “belief” that, dare I say, seems rather misplaced when it comes to the franchise as a whole.

The only problem with this blind positivity, is the fact that the New York Jets are…..well…..they’re a dumpster fire. They are a big steaming pile of waste that has been burning for the longest time, and the fact that Glenn is trying to sell them as anything more brings about MAJOR “used car salesman” vibes.

It does, it really does. Glenn just SOUNDS LIKE he’s trying to make his quota for the month by trying to sell someone the old ‘beater’ off the lot. He’s trying to pass off this worthless franchise as something worthwhile, and a team that we can believe in this time around.

The problem? That’s what the last few coaches tried to do. And do you know how that worked out for them?

  • ZERO seasons with a winning record since 2015
  • ZERO seasons with a playoff appearance since 2010
  • ZERO Super Bowl appearances since 1968

They are a terrible franchise, who has been a regular bottom-dweller in the AFC for YEARS. To stay with the ‘used car salesman’ theme; they are basically a 1985 Yugo GV with over 100,000 miles on it. Their track-record just SCREAMS ‘mediocrity,’ and the fact that their coach has to try to sell a ‘bright future’ just proves that they are in for a rude awakening. It just PROVES that football fans shouldn’t expect much from this squad, until it’s staring them right in the face.

Can they make a change, and prove me wrong? Absolutely! I’ve been proven wrong before. But until that day comes…..I’m just going to say NO to the sales techniques, and walk away from the sale. The AFC East is a two-team division at this point, and it will be for AT LEAST the next 5 years.

The Jets aren’t “back,” and they won’t be “back” any time soon. But in the end, as always….what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
