Michigan Guts Out a Win Over Ohio State, 13-10
On Saturday November 30th in Columbus Ohio, the second ranked Ohio State Buckeyes hosted the unranked Michigan Wolverines in one of the most heated rivalries in all of sports. It is known as “the game” to fans on both sides of the rivalry. Ohio State was a 23-point favorite going into this game and Michigan has won the last three meetings between these teams. This was considered the next step for the Buckeyes to the college football playoffs. However, Michigan had different plans.
Ohio State struggled to run the ball all day, they only rushed for 77 yards in the game. Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard had two costly interceptions and only one touchdown. The Ohio State offense managed their only touchdown late in the second quarter. Other costly mistakes were two missed field goals by Ohio State kicker Jayden Fielding. Ohio State’s defense did play a good game. But did not get the late stop they needed to get their offense the ball with enough time to score. Michigan was able to kick a short field goal with under a minute to play to win the game 13-10. This game is a monumental disappointment for Ohio State. Many Buckeyes fans may start to wonder what this means for head coach Ryan Day’s future.
On paper Ohio State was the better team. But on the field today, Michigan outplayed them. Ryan Day was outcoached as well. This was supposed to be an Ohio State team to contend for a National Championship, and now with two losses their berth in the college football playoffs is in jeopardy. Michigan has now won the last four games against Ohio State. For this loss today Ohio State has zero excuses and only themselves to blame. And head coach Ryan Day needs to start being accountable with himself.
