Raptors Begin The New Year Undefeated, Beat Nets 130-113
Raptors fans can rejoice in the new year, as Toronto began 2025 with a perfect record after beating the Nets 130-113 on New Year’s day. Toronto ended 2024 on an11 game losing streak, and were desperate to turn a new leaf heading into 2025. There were multiple storylines coming into this game, including RJ Barrett still being out due to an illness, the return of Immanuel Quickly to the Raptors, and the newest addition to the Nets lineup in D’angelo Russell making his debut for Brooklyn this season after being traded from the Lakers.
During the game, multiple scary injuries happened to the Brooklyn Nets, as both Maxwell Lewis and Noah Clowney both went down with injuries and left the game midway through the contest. Despite the injuries, Brooklyn tried to stay in the fight but were no match for Toronto’s fast paced and high intensity offence. Key players of the game for the Raptors were Scottie Barnes who had himself an impressive night scoring 33 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, along with the Returning Immanuel Quickly who dropped 21 points and dished out 15 assists in his first game back from injury. D’angelo Russell was also quite impressive in his Nets reunion, scoring 22 points and eight assists off the bench, showing he can still produce at a high level and can provide much needed value for this Nets team.
Toronto will look to continue their winning in the new year January 3 as they host the Orlando Magic, and will wrap up their first homestand of 2025 Monday, January 6 when they host Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
