Cavs win 14th in a row, beat Bulls 144-126
On Friday November 15th, the 13-0 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 5-7 Chicago Bulls at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. This is the Cavaliers first game of the NBA Cup in Season Tournament. The Cavaliers have started their 2024/2025 season with a team record of 13 wins in a row. Cavaliers guard Sam Merrill was out for this game with an ankle injury, while center Jarrett Allen was listed as day to day with a leg injury. Allen did play in this game. For the Bulls guard Lonzo Ball was out with a wrist injury and center Adama Sonogo was listed as probable with a knee issue. Sonogo did not play in the game either. The question going into the game was can the Cavaliers keep their win streak alive?
The Cavaliers came out of the gate running and they ended the first quarter leading by a score of 49-34. In the second quarter it was the Bulls turn to run and close in on the Cavaliers lead. At halftime the Cavaliers were leading 77-73. In the third quarter the pace of the game kept going fast for both teams and the Cavaliers kept their lead 107-102. Despite the Bulls hanging tough, in the fourth quarter the Cavaliers pulled away to win their 14th game in a row 144-126.
The leading scorer for the Cavaliers was Donovan Mitchell with 37 points in 34 minutes. Jarett Allen had a double-double despite his injury concerns. Allen had 24 points and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes. Also, the Cavaliers had 5 total players with double digit points. This was another great team win. Up next for this Cavaliers team is hosting the 4-7 Charlotte Hornets Sunday November 17th at 6 pm EST. Can this team continue their winning streak and go 15-0? I like their chances at home Sunday night.
