Cavs lose to Hawks, 135-124
On Wednesday November 27 the 17-1 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 7-11 Atlanta Hawks at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The Cavaliers last game was a 122-108 win over the Toronto Raptors last Sunday. The Hawks lost last Monday to the Dallas Mavericks 129-119. For the Hawks Cody Zeller was out and did not travel with the team. The Cavs were without Dean Wade, Caris LeVert, Max Strus, and Emoni Bates for this game. The Cavaliers are trying to add to their undefeated home record of 10-0.
The game started with a 12-3 Cavaliers run and eventually they would lead by 19 points. But Atlanta stormed back to tie the score by the end of the first quarter 35-35. The Cavaliers opened the second quarter with a 10-2 run. Atlanta again came back with a run of their own and took a late 2nd quarter lead. The Cavaliers made some plays and made defensive stops to go into halftime with a 64-61 lead. In the 3rd quarter the game went back and forth with momentum changing. The Hawks took the lead at the end of 3 quarters of play 98-95. In the 4th quarter the Atlanta Hawks pulled away from the Cavaliers and prevailed in the end by a score of 135-124.
Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers in scoring with 30 points in 36 minutes. Both Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley had double-doubles for the Cavaliers. Allen had 17 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes. Mobley scored 22 points and had 16 rebounds in 37 minutes. And that wasn’t enough for the Cavaliers against the Hawks. Next for this team is a matinee rematch in Atlanta against the Hawks on Friday November 29th at 2:30pm EST. The Cavaliers are now 17-2 for this season. We know that they can’t win them all. But they can start a new win streak on Friday afternoon.
