Cavs grind out win over Raptors, 132-126

On Thursday January 9th at 7 pm eastern time, the 32-4 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 8-29 Toronto Raptors at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The night prior the Cavaliers had their biggest win of the season defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder at home 129-122. The Raptors last game was the night before in New York and they lost to the Knicks 112-98. Both Sam Merrill and Isaac Okoro were listed as questionable that night. Both players played in the game. Donovan Mitchell sat out for rest. Toronto did not have any players listed on an injury report prior to the game. After the Cavaliers emotional win in a big game on the previous night, can they keep up their intensity for a second night in a row?

In the first quarter the Cavaliers played a little sluggish and trailed the Raptors after one quarter of play, 33-27. In the second quarter the Cavaliers clawed their way back to tie the game at halftime, 61-61. In the third quarter the Cavaliers scored 37 points, but the Raptors scored 42 points of their own and led after three quarters of play 103-98. In the fourth and final quarter the Cavaliers outscored the Raptors by 11 points and won their 33rd game of the season 132-126. It was also the Cleveland Cavaliers 12th win in a row.

The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Darius Garland with 40 points and 9 assists in 36 minutes. Both Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen had double-doubles. Mobley had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Allen had 18 points and 15 rebounds. The Cleveland Cavaliers still hold the best record in the NBA at 33-4. Up next for the Cavaliers is hosting the 20-18 Indiana Pacers on Sunday January 12th 6pm eastern time, at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. This Cleveland Cavaliers team continues to play excellent team basketball. And Cavaliers fans can’t wait for their next game Sunday night.
