Cavs defeat Wizards,134-124
On Friday February 7th at 7 pm eastern time, the 41-10 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to our nation’s capital to play the 9-41 Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena. The Cavaliers last game was a thrilling 118-115 win at Detroit over the Pistons last Wednesday, The Wizards last game was 119-102 win over the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn New York last Wednesday too. The Cavaliers last Thursday made a trade with the Atlanta Hawks for D’Andre Hunter. He was not available to play in this game. Out for the Cavaliers was Sam Merrill, Dean Wade, and Isaac Okoro. The Wizards were without Saddiq Bey, Malcolm Brogdon, and Alex Sarr. This game should be another decisive win for the Cavaliers on the road.
The first quarter was high scoring, and the Cavaliers led the Wizards after one quarter of play 35-33. In the second quarter the Cavaliers fell behind the Wizards and trailed at halftime 67-64. In the third quarter the Cavaliers took back the lead and led going into the fourth quarter 94-93. In the fourth and final quarter the Cavaliers pulled away by outscoring the Wizards 40-31. The Cleveland Cavaliers won their 42nd game of the season 134-124. The Cleveland Cavaliers are now 42-10 for the season.
The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Donovan Mitchell with 33 points in 34 minutes. Jarrett Allen earned a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds in 27 minutes of play. The Cavaliers had six players with double digit scoring. Up next for the 42-10 Cavaliers is a trip back home in Cleveland to face the 29-23 Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday February 10th at 7 pm eastern time. The Cavaliers have two more games before the All-Star Break. In those two games they hope keep the NBA’s best record.
