Cavs Defeat the Nuggets, 149-135
On Friday December 27th at 9 pm eastern time, the 26-4 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Denver Colorado to play the 16-12 Denver Nuggets at the Ball Arena. The Cavaliers last game was a 124-113 win at home against the Utah Jazz last Monday. The Nuggets last game was 110-100 loss in Phoenix to the Phoenix Suns on Christmas Day. This is the first game of a four-game west coast trip for the Cavaliers. Out for the Cavaliers in the game were Isaac Okoro and Emoni Bates. The Nuggets were without Aaron Gordon, DaRon Holmes II, and Vlatko Cancar. The Cavaliers were hoping to start this trip on a positive note while adding to the NBA’s best record.
Both teams had a high scoring first quarter of play, but the Cavaliers led the Nuggets at the end of the quarter 40-38. In the second quarter the Cavaliers pulled away and led the Nuggets at halftime 80-65. The scoring flurry continued in the third quarter. Both teams each scored 36 points. The Cavaliers led after three quarters of play, 116-101. The Nuggets did outscore the Cavaliers in the fourth quarter 34-33. But in the end the Cleveland Cavaliers win their 27th game of the season 149-135.
The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Donovan Mitchell with 33 points in 30 minutes of play. Jarrett Allen had another double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Cavaliers had six different players with double digit scoring. Up next for the 27-4 Cavaliers in this west coast swing is a trip to California to play the 15-15 Golden State Warriors on December 30th at 10 pm eastern time, at the Chase Center in San Francisco California. This is the next test for the hottest team in NBA. Can they stay hot and pass the test? If they continue to play at this level? It will be a Happy New Year for Cavs fans.
