Cavs Cruise Past Wizards, 118-87
On Tuesday December 3rd the 18-3 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 2-16 Washington Wizards at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers last game was 115-111 win at home against the defending World Champion Boston Celtics last Sunday. The Wizards previous game was a 124-114 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks in Milwaukee Wisconsin last Saturday. For the Cavaliers Max Struss and Emoni Bates were ruled out for this game. The Wizards were without Saddiq Bey, Kyle Kuzma, and Tristan Vukcevic for the game. On paper this looks like an almost automatic win for the Cavaliers. But the games are played on the basketball court not on paper and the Cavaliers knew this.
In the first quarter it went as expected with the Cavaliers making a run early and leading at the end of the 1st quarter of play 35-20. In the second quarter the Cavaliers continued their offensive onslaught on the Wizards by scoring 60 first half points. And at halftime the Cleveland Cavaliers led the Washington Wizards 60-42. At the start of the second half the Cavaliers continued to coast and maintain their lead. And after the third quarter ended the Cavaliers led 86-67. The trend continued through the fourth quarter with Cavaliers outscoring the Wizards 32-20. And the game ended with the Cavaliers prevailing by a score of 118-87.
The Cavaliers leading scorers were Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley each with 19 points. Mobley also had 10 rebounds getting another double-double. He did that in 34 minutes of play. Donovan Mitchell played 28 minutes in the game. The Cavaliers had seven players with double digit scoring against the Wizards. The Cleveland Cavaliers are now 19-3 for the season. Up next for this Cavaliers team is hosting the Denver Nuggets on Thursday December 5th at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland. Can the Cavaliers make it their 20th win for the season? As a fan I can’t wait to find out on Thursday.
