Cavs Avenge First Loss, Beat the Celtics, 115-111
On Sunday December 1st the 17-3 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the defending World Champion 16-3 Boston Celtics at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers are trying to end a two-game losing streak, they recently lost back-to-back games against the Atlanta Hawks. Boston’s last game was a 138-129 victory in Chicago Illinois over the Chicago Bulls last Friday night. This was a number 1 versus number 2 seeds in the Eastern Conference. Out for the Cavaliers was Dean Wade, Emoni Bates, and Max Strus. The Celtics were without Jaylen Brown and Derrick White for the game. The Cavaliers were looking to avenge their first loss of the season.
In the first quarter it was as evenly matched as expected with both teams making runs. At the end of the quarter the Cavaliers led 28-24. The second quarter continued with game being competitive and close to even. By halftime the Cavaliers lead over the Celtics was 51-49. In the third quarter the Celtics made a run and outscored the Cavaliers 35-21. At the end of three quarters of play the Celtics led by a score of 84-72. The Cavaliers had to try and come back in the fourth quarter to win the game. And that is what they did. The Cavaliers outscored the Celtics in the fourth quarter 43-27. The Cavaliers won their 18th game of the season 115-111.
The leading scorer for the Cavaliers was Donovan Mitchell with 35 points in 35 minutes. Darius Garland was right behind him with 22 points in 32 minutes. The Cavaliers had four players with double digit scoring. Up next for the 18-3 Cleveland Cavaliers is the 2-16 Washington Wizards on Tuesday December 3rd at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. A good remedy for a losing streak is a winning streak. This team plans to continue one on Tuesday night.
