Dodgers vs. Cubs series preview
The Los Angeles Dodgers come to Wrigley Field for a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs starting today at 1:20 PM. The early schedule has not been very kind to the Cubs. They opened on the road against the reigning World Champion Texas Rangers. They did get a break with a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies, but now they have to face arguably the best offense in baseball in the Dodgers. Los Angeles is the prohibitive favorite to win the National League. It is still early April, but this will be a good measuring stick for this Cubs team.
This series will mark Shohei Ohtani’s first visit to Wrigley Field. The Cubs were rumored to be in on the Ohtani sweepstakes this offseason before he ultimately signed with the Dodgers. Of course, Ohtani won’t pitch in this series as he is recovering from Tommy John surgery. He has one home run and four RBIs on the season. The Cubs will also get their first look at Japanese super-star pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Saturday. He got knocked around in his first start in Korea but was really good in his second start.
