MLB Hall of Fame Ballot: Who Is Going to Cooperstown?
Baseball writers and historians are filling out their ballots for the 2025 induction class of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
This year, the Hall of Fame welcomed Colorado first baseman Todd Helton, Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer, and Texas third baseman Adrian Beltre.
Voters can select up to 10 candidates, and they must make their selections by Dec. 31.
A ballplayer needs 75 percent of the vote to count himself among the game’s immortals.
Let’s look at the newcomers to the Cooperstown ballot, and then we’ll see who’s been waiting to be let in the door.
THE NEWCOMERS
Ichiro Suzuki’s name jumps out among the new names on the ballot. The Seattle outfielder collected 3,089 hits in 19 seasons.
In 2001, Ichiro won the Rookie of the Year and MVP awards while winning the batting title (.350) and stealing 56 bases.
CC Sabathia is another top candidate among the newcomers. His 251 wins ranks third among left-handers, trailing only Randy Johnson and Steve Carlton.
Felix Hernandez pitched for Seattle for 15 years, winning the Cy Young Award in 2010 and throwing a perfect game in 2012.
Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia won Rookie of the Year in 2007 and the MVP in 2008.
Other newcomers include:
· Infielders Ian Kinsler, Troy Tulowitzki, and Ben Zobrist
· Relief pitcher Fernando Rodney
· Outfielders Curtis Granderson, Adam Jones, Carlos Gonzalez, and Harley Ramirez
· Catchers Russell Martin and Brian McCann
THE HOLDOVERS
Billy Wagner, Andruw Jones and Carlos Beltran are the top candidates who are looking for a little more love from the voters. They received 74, 61, and 57 percent of the ballots, respectively.

The Hall of Fame will announce its new class of inductees on Jan. 21.
