Midseason Favorites For 2024 NFL Coach of the Year Award

The 2024-25 NFL season is at its midway point and teams are beginning to separate themselves.

This means there are a handful of head coaches that have made an impression on their teams. For Dennis Allen, this was quite the opposite as the New Orleans Saints decided to move on. For others, this could mean competing for the ultimate prize.

Below, check out some of the top candidates for the Coach of the Year award.

1. Dan Quinn, Washington Commanders

It is impossible not to give Quinn credit for the job he has done in his first year in Washington. The team is 7-2 and the culture has completely changed. This is largely in part because of Quinn’s work as the head coach. If this continues, he will be difficult to beat for this award.

2. Kevin O’Connell, Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings came into the season with the expectation that this would be a bit of a rebuilding year post-Kirk Cousins. Instead, the job O’Connell has done with Sam Darnold has the Vikings in position to make the postseason. The defense has improved, thanks to Brian Flores, marking yet another great addition to this coaching staff.

3. Jim Harbaugh, Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers have had poor leadership over the course of the career of Justin Herbert. That ended this offseason when Harbaugh left Michigan to return to the NFL. Los Angeles is playing like the hard-nosed football team that Harbaugh wants and it begins in the trenches.

4. Andy Reid, Kansas City Chiefs

It will be difficult for Reid to win this award given the fact that he has the best quarterback in the sport on his roster. Nonetheless, if Kansas City goes unbeaten, he will be thrown into the conversation. The Chiefs are currently 8-0 and it feels like they have not played their best game yet.
