Mercedes Mone, Young Bucks Defend AEW Titles Before All In

As AEW prepares for the All In pay-per-view a week from Sunday, The Young Bucks and Mercedes Mone put their championships on the line last night on Dynamite.

Mone opened the show by successfully defending the TBS championship against Hikaru Shida. Mone’s bodyguard, Kamille, helped by delivering a big boot to set up the victory.

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defended the AEW tag team title for the first time since winning the belts four months ago. FTR couldn’t stay away and got The Acclaimed disqualified.

FTR will battle The Acclaimed on Saturday’s episode of Collision to determine who gets the title shot at All In.

“Hangman” Adam Page continues his march toward gaining revenge against AEW champion Swerve Strickland. Page defeated Jay Lethal with the Buckshot Lariat.

Swerve seems to be turning back into a bad guy leading into his World title defense against Bryan Danielson. Strickland defeated Wheeler Yuta when the referee stopped the match.

Jack Perry attacked Darby Allin, who had been bad-mouthing him about their TNT championship match at All In. Perry challenged Allin to make it a Coffin Match.

ADVANTAGE … OR DISADVANTAGE?

Orange Cassidy won a Triple Threat match over Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong to earn the No. 1 spot in the Casino Gauntlet match.

Wait … is that a good thing? Yes! It’s not the same as drawing the first pick in the Royal Rumble, which guarantees that you have to last one hour to win.

Since the Casino Gauntlet match can end at any time, Orange has more of a chance to win. Later entrants in the match are fresher, but they risk that the match will end before they get to the ring.

Next week, Dynamite will take place in Cardiff, Wales. Kazuchika Okada will defend the Continental championship against Claudio Castagnoli.
