Mercedes Mone Blows Off Britt Baker’s Championship Challenge on AEW Dynamite

AEW fans are looking forward to a “CEO vs. DMD” battle to determine the face of the women’s division.

Dr. Britt Baker interrupted Mercedes Mone’s victory celebration at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view, so Mercedes returned the favor on the “Beach Break” episode of AEW Dynamite last night in Chicago.

As Baker was explaining the health problems that kept her out of the ring for 10 months, Mone came to the ring to kick off her “Double Championship Celebration.”

Baker challenged the TBS and New Japan Strong women’s champion, but Mercedes told the wrestling dentist to go to the back of the line.

GET THE HOOK

Hook had a rough night, even though he was successful in the ring. He teamed with Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata to defeat Bryan Cage and The Gates of Agony.

After the match, though, Chris Jericho and his crew put Hook through a table and later blasted him with a fireball.

In the main event, Will Ospreay retained the International title with a win over Daniel Garcia. MJF, who had been in Garcia’s corner, turned against him after the match.

OWEN HART CUP

“Hangman” Adam Page returned from injury to defeat Jeff Jarrett in the first round of the Owen Hart Cup tournament.

Jarrett was the sentimental favorite because of his friendship with Owen Hart. They held the WWF tag team title together in 1999.

Page later told The Elite that he would not join their team in the upcoming Blood & Guts match. Mark Briscoe declared that he would be on Team AEW.

Bryan Danielson defeated PAC in the semifinals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament. He will face the winner of the match between Hangman and “Switchblade” Jay White on Saturday’s Collision.

On the women’s side, Willow Nightingale defeated archrival Kris Statlander to reach the finals of the tournament, which Willow won last year.

She will take on the winner of Friday’s Rampage match between Mariah May and Hikaru Shida.

So Britt Baker is back. Hangman is back. “The old MJF” is back. This is a good time to be watching AEW.
