LSU/Texas A&M Preview
The fighting Tigers of LSU will play their most important game of the 2024/2025 season on Saturday.
LSU will travel into the Lone Star State to take on the Aggies of Texas A&M in a primetime showdown at Kyle Field.
In 58 meetings against the Aggies, the Tigers are 8-0 in matchups where both of the teams are ranked.
Last season, Jayden Daniels secured his Heisman Trophy with a four-touchdown performance in a 42-30 Tigers win.
This season, Daniels’ former backup Garrett Nussmeier comes in firing on all cylinders through the year’s first seven games.
Nussmeier has a completion percentage of 65% for 2,222 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
A strong performance tonight and Nussmeier could find himself square in contention to make a trip to New York later this winter just like Daniels did a year ago.
One of Nussmier’s key weapons will finally be available to him as wide reciever Chris Hilton Jr. will make his long-awaited season debut.
Hilton Jr. missed the Tigers’ first seven games after suffering an ankle injury during fall camp back in August.
Not all injury news has been great for LSU as fellow wide receiver CJ Daniels has been downgraded to questionable as he continues to deal with a knee injury.
On the other side of the ball, the Tigers’ defense which was a liability last season has become the strength of this year’s team.
Linebacker Whit Weeks now leads the SEC in tackles after a sensational performance against Arkansas which saw him have ten tackles, a sack and an interception.
Pass rusher Brayden Swinson will also be a key in this one as LSU looks to hurry a strong Texas A&M passing attack.
With a win tonight, the fighting Tigers will likely see themselves jump into the top five of the rankings and find themselves in prime playoff position.
You can catch all the action between LSU and Texas A&M at 6:30 EST on ABC.
