LSU Wins 3rd Consecutive Bowl Game With Win Over Baylor
For the third straight year, the LSU Tigers have won their Bowl Game.
LSU took down Baylor 44-31 in the Texas Bowl on Tuesday afternoon at NRG Staduim in Houston.
Garrett Nussmeier was the star of the day as the LSU QB threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns.
“It’s definitely a good feeling to end the season with a win,” said Nussmeier,.
“It’s definitely something that we were looking forward to doing. It was one of our goals. Coach Kelly said before the game that this is the start of 2025, so we wanted to make a statement. We talked about having that killer instinct.”
The Tigers jumped out to a quick lead scoring a touchdown on their opening drive when Nussmeier found freshman TE/WR Trey’Dez Green in the end zone.
On the very next drive, it was the defense stepped up as freshman linebacker Davhon Keys grabbed an interception and ran it 40 yards to the house to put the Tigers up 14-0.
After Baylor cut the lead to 14-7 Nussmeier dropped back and fired a bomb to Chris Hilton Jr for a 40-yard touchdown.
Just minutes later, Nussmeier found Hilton Jr again this time on a 43-yard reception which set up another Green touchdown.
After Baylor punched in another score, LSU got a huge 95-yard kickoff return touchdown from Zavion Thomas to make it 35-14 at the half.
Baylor stayed in it throughout the second half using ten unanswered points to make it 34-24 late in the third.
However, the Tigers proved to be too much in the end as a Damian Ramos field goal and Josh Williams touchdown would make the final score 44-31.
LSU will now focus it’s attention on next season as they will take on Clemson on the road on August 20th to open the 2025 campaign.
