Los Angeles Dodgers Use Strong Pitching to Grab 2-0 World Series Lead

Delivering a complete performance, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees 4-2 last night in Game 2 of the World Series.

The Dodgers will return to their ancestral home of New York City with a 2-0 lead.

The pressure is on the Yankees, who were unable to produce the ninth-inning heroics that won the first game for the Dodgers.

IT STARTS WITH PITCHING

Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned some of his 12-year, $325 million contract by controlling the Yankees’ fearsome hitters for 6 1/3 innings.

He only gave up one hit: a solo homer by Juan Soto in the third inning.

That bomb tied the score, because the Dodgers’ Tommy Edman had homered in the second inning.

THE BIG BOPPERS

The Dodgers cranked back-to-back home runs in the third inning off Yankees starter Carlos Rodon, who gave up 31 dingers in the regular season.

Teoscar Hernandez started with a two-run bomb that scored Mookie Betts.

Freddie Freeman followed with a solo shot, showing he had more magic in his bat after his historic game-winning grand slam.

SEALING THE DEAL

The Dodgers’ 4-1 lead held up until the ninth inning. Giancarlo Stanton singled off Blake Treinen to score Juan Soto.

The Yankees loaded the bases when Jazz Chisholm Jr. singled and Anthony Rizzo was hit by a pitch.

However, Treinen struck out Volpe for the second out. Jose Trevino pinch-hit for Austin Wells, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called to the bullpen for Alex Vesia.

He only needed to throw one pitch. Trevino flied out to center to end the game.

GAME 3 MATCHUP

The Yankees will send Clarke Schmidt to the mound for Game 3. The Dodgers will counter with Walker Buehler.

First pitch is set for 8:08 on Monday night on Fox.
