Los Angeles Dodgers Shut Out Cleveland Guardians in Scorching Heat

Cleveland sports fans who tuned out of the Browns game yesterday didn’t get any relief from the Guardians.

While the Dallas Cowboys were pounding the Browns 33-17, the Los Angeles Dodgers were beating the Guardians 4-0.

Jack Flaherty (12-6) continued to dominate Cleveland hitters, just like he did when he pitched for Detroit.

He pitched 7 1/3 shutout innings, giving up four hits and no walks while striking out six batters.

Tanner Bibee (11-7) didn’t pitch poorly, as he gave up two runs in five innings. But he had no offensive help.

WATER, PLEASE

The biggest statistic of the game was 103. That was the temperature at game time.

Fans received vouchers for free water bottles, but some chose to stay at home despite the announced attendance of 44,207.

The Dodgers got on the board in the fourth inning when Will Smith slapped a single to center, scoring Mookie Betts.

Shohei Ohtani launched a 450-foot home run in the fifth inning to increase the Dodgers’ lead to 2-0. Ohtani has 46 homers this year.

LA scored its other two runs in the eighth off Anthony Gose on a homer by Max Muncy and a single by Chris Taylor.

ROAD WARRIORS

Cleveland will check into the third stop on its road trip with a visit to the Chicago White Sox. While the Sox have already lost 111 games, they did win two out of three in Boston this weekend.

Guardians starter Joey Cantillo (0-3) will try to get into the win column at the expense of the hapless South Siders. Game time is 7:40 p.m.
