Liberty Star Sabrina Ionescu Injured Hand During WNBA Finals

New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu reportedly suffered a high-grade UCL tear on her right, shooting hand during Game 4 of the WNBA Finals.

The Liberty went on to lose that game 82-80 before winning Game Five and securing their first-ever WNBA championship.

Ionescu played through the injury in the decisive game but struggled scoring just five points on 1-19 shooting.

In Game Three Ionescu provided one of the greatest moments in WNBA history when she nailed a game-winner from 28 feet.

The Liberty expects Ionescu to make a full recovery as she will be reevaluated in four weeks.

The UCL (ulnar collateral ligament) is located on the inside edge of the thumb near where the thumb meets the palm.

Surgery will not be required for Ionescu.

New York will open up as favorites to go back-to-back when the WNBA season tips off next summer.
