Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor Earn Silver Slugger Award Nominations
The Cleveland Guardians’ Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor each drove in more than 100 RBI, earning nominations for the 2024 Silver Slugger awards.
Naylor hit .243 with 31 homers and 108 RBI. His competition at first base is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Toronto and Carlos Santana of Minnesota.
Guerrero makes a strong case. He hit .323 with 30 homers and 103 RBI for the Blue Jays.
Santana hit .238 with 23 homers and 78 RBI. He may not win the Silver Slugger, but he did win a Gold Glove at age 38.
THIRD BASE CONTENDERS
Ramirez has a great chance of winning at third base, where he is competing with fellow Silver Slugger winners Alex Bregman of Houston and Rafael Devers of Boston.
Ramirez won the award in 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2022. This year, he hit .279 with 39 homers and 118 RBI.
He came close to becoming the second player ever to collect 40 doubles, 40 homers, and 40 steals.
Bregman posted a .260 batting average with 26 homers and 75 RBI for the Astros. He also won the Gold Glove at third base.
Devers hit .272 with 28 homers and 83 RBI, so Ramirez is a good bet to win.
