Jalen Green Powers Rockets Past Grizzlies
It was a career-high tying night for Jalen Green who was seemingly unguardable for the second straight game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Green would finish with 42 points including a driving layup to cap off a huge Rockets 4th quarter run.
The Rockets used Green’s career night to get past the Grizzlies 120-118 for the second consecutive game.
Amen Thompson had another strong all-around night finishing with 19 points 13 rebounds and 4 assists.
On the defensive end of the floor, Thompson drew the assignment of guarding Ja Morant and recorded 2 steals and 5 blocks.
Thompson played a huge role in Morant’s turnover late in the game and then hit two huge free throws to extend the Rockets’ lead with seconds left.
Alperen Sengun finished with 17 points, including 8 rebounds and 5 assists to go along with it. He also recorded 3 steals.
Fred VanVleet and Dillion Brooks both finished with just nine points but it was the timing of their buckets that made the difference.
Both of the Rockets veteran duo knocked down clutch three-pointers at the start of Houston’s 4th quarter run.
VanVleet also had the game-sealing free throws after Ja Morant missed a huge pair at the line late in the 4th.
Off the bench, it was another strong night for Cam Whitmore who finished with 16 points on 6-9 shooting.
With the win, the Rockets now sit at 26-12 good for second place in the Western Conference, 6 games back of the OKC Thunder.
Next up, the Rockets will travel to the Mile High City to take on the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday Night.
