Jalen Green Drops 36 Points As Rockets Down Spurs

The Houston Rockets have yet to play four good quarters this season. Monday night was the same as they took on the Spurs for the second time in three nights.

Houston held off a late San Antonio comeback attempt in the fourth quarter to claim a 106-101 victory.

Jalen Green led the way for the Rockets scoring 36 points including knocking down seven threes on 13 attempts.

Green’s 36-point performance is part of his best start to a season in his young career. He is now averaging 28.8 points per night.

Despite only having two assists, Green had the game-sealing dime for the Rockets.

Houston was up 101-99 with 18 seconds left when Green was double-teamed and made an athletic kick out to Fred Van Vleet who drilled a deep dagger three.

If you only watched the first quarter of the game, you would be questioning why the Rockets even made it so close.

The Rockets dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Spurs 29-15 through the Opening Frame.

San Antonio cut the lead all the way down to just two late in the fourth but the Rockets, their balanced scoring attack held the Spurs off.

Four of the Rockets’ starting five were in double figures as Dillion Brooks was the only one held out with seven.

Alpren Sengun battled through double teams most of the night as he managed just 12 points but was still able to add 12 rebounds and secure a double-double.

Off the bench, Steven Adams and Tari Eason each contributed six points while Amen Thompson led all bench scorers with 7.

The Rockets will continue their in-state road trip on Thursday when they travel to Dallas to take on the Mavericks.
