Is this what Stefanski coaching for his job looks like? Part 11
If the Browns organization were a power plant that ran on dysfunction, they’d have produced enough fuel in any given week to light up the Eastern Seaboard for half a century.
This present arrangement is the best Cleveland’s had since the current iteration of the team reentered existence two and a half decades ago. After reaching the postseason exactly once (2002) between 1999 and 2019, the Berry-Stefanski regime has earned a spot in the playoffs twice since taking the reigns in 2020.
And for a franchise that’s swapped out functionaries like batteries in a remote control, this season’s disappointing output has many fans hoping for change once again. Maybe it’s time for that. And maybe Mike Vrabel is the answer.
But why would an established coach with the cachet of Vrabel, who has interest from multiple other teams, have a desire to yomp through the morass of turmoil and disarray that is the Cleveland Browns?
He’s from Akron, Ohio, so that’s a start. He went to college in the state’s capital. Presumably he had other offers to be a consultant elsewhere to begin this season and evidently chose the Dawg Pound.
Would working for a different organization offer him a better opportunity? That’s where we’ll reach our conclusion, in Part 12.
