Hey, Detroit Tigers, You’ve Won a Trip to Cleveland!

The Cleveland Guardians didn’t have to wait long to find out their opponent in the American League Division Series.

The Detroit Tigers bounced the Houston Astros out of the playoffs with a 5-2 win yesterday. Detroit swept the best-of-three series on the road.

Pinch hitter Andy Ibanez broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth with a three-run double off Astros closer Josh Hader.

Houston fans must have been frustrated because the Tigers pitched a bullpen game and held their heroes to five hits.

The Tigers will be coming in hot to Cleveland, posting a 33-13 record in the last couple of months.

ROYALS 2, ORIOLES 1

The Kansas City Royals also qualified for the ALDS by winning both of their games in Baltimore. KC is moving on to face the New York Yankees.

Bobby Witt Jr. drove in the winning run for KC with an infield hit in the sixth inning.

PADRES 5, BRAVES 4

San Diego won both games at home, so they will travel up the road to face the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend.

Kyle Higashioka hit his second home run of the series. The Padres scored all of their runs in the second inning off Braves starter Max Fried.

BREWERS 5, METS 3

Milwaukee forced the only Game 3 of the wild-card round by evening the score with the Mets.

Former Cleveland Indians reliever Phil Maton gave up eighth-inning home runs to Milwaukee’s Garrett Mitchell and Jackson Chourio.

Game 3 will start at 7 p.m. on ESPN, as the Brewers will send Tobias Myers (9-6) to the mound to face the Mets’ Jose Quintana (10-10).
