Gunther Prepares to Dominate at SummerSlam

World domination is in Gunther’s future, and it could begin this Saturday at SummerSlam in Cleveland.

Gunther defeated former Universal champion Finn Balor last night on Raw with the sleeper hold, and he is the favorite to dethrone World champion Damien Priest at SummerSlam.

Gunther earned a title shot by winning the King of the Ring tournament, and after holding the Intercontinental title for 666 days, he looks like he’s ready for another dominant title run.

WHO’S THE BOSS?

Seth Rollins didn’t wait until SummerSlam to begin acting as special referee for the CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre match.

Rollins gave his pre-match instructions and said he could call for pinfalls, submissions, countouts, and disqualifications whenever he pleased.

The show-opening segment did not turn into a three-way brawl because General Manager Adam Pearce said he would cancel the match if that happened.

Brutus & Julius Creed beat Akira Tozawa & Otis, as Chad Gable’s new students beat his former students. The Wyatt Sicks came out to menace Gable’s crew after the match.

Karrion Kross failed to recruit Xavier Woods into his Final Testament faction, but Kross did win their match.

Bronson Reed scored a win over former WWE champion Sheamus after Pete Dunne hit Sheamus with a shillelagh.

In other bouts, Jey Uso beat Carlito; Sami Zayn defeated Dominick Mysterio by disqualification, and Zoey Stark, Shayna Baszler & Sonya Deville defeated Lyra Valkyria, Katana Chance & Kayden Carter.

SummerSlam will begin on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
