Final Four Set for AEW Continental Classic

Ricochet and Kyle Fletcher won the league championships in the AEW Continental Classic last night on Dynamite.

Continental champion Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay also qualified for the semifinals at Saturday’s World’s End pay-per-view.

GOLD LEAGUE

Ospreay opened the show with a victory over Brody King, who finished with six points.

This put Ospreay into a tie for first place with nine points, and he needed Ricochet or Claudio Castagnoli to lose.

Ricochet, who is rapidly losing the fans’ support despite his crowd-pleasing style, battled Darby Allin to a 20-minute draw.

Allin earned a point to finish with seven. Ricochet clinched a spot in the semifinals with 10 points.

Komander upset Castagnoli, punching Ospreay’s ticket to the Final Four. Ospreay won the tiebreaker with Claudio by winning their match in the round-robin tournament.

BLUE LEAGUE

Okada must win the tournament to keep the Continental title. He beat Shelton Benjamin with the Rainmaker lariat.

Okada finished with 10 points to reach the semifinals, while Benjamin ended the tournament with six points. Not bad for a guy who will turn 50 next year.

Fletcher won the main event over Daniel Garcia with a brainbuster off the top rope. Fletcher won the Blue League with 12 points, while Garcia finished with seven.

So, the semifinal matchups at World’s End will be Ospreay vs. Fletcher and Okada vs. Ricochet.

SHE’S A ROOKIE?

Toni Storm defeated Taya Valkyrie in the only non-tournament match. Fans played along with her by chanting “She’s a Rookie.”

Storm seems to think that she has just debuted, as opposed to being a three-time AEW women’s champion.

The rest of the show was devoted to hyping Jon Moxley’s title defense at World’s End against Orange Cassidy, Jay White, and “Hangman” Adam Page.
