FILM ROOM: Key players in the Steelers win over the Commanders
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 7-2 after their 28-27 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 10, and before fans turn the page to Week 11 it is worth looking back at players/plays which provided the 4th straight win for the black-and-gold.
Of course the Baltimore Ravens coming to town Sunday will have most of our attention in the coming days, but a look back at last Sunday’s win in Washington will provide some valuable context before the Steelers host their arch-rivals at Acrisure Stadium.
Anyone know has been following my work for any length of time knows I’m not one for the X’s and O’s of the game of football. If I were to label myself in this way, I’d be at a Middle School level as it pertains to the basics of the game of football. But there are people here on staff who have a much higher IQ when it comes to the game of football.
If I have a Middle School level understanding of the game, Coach KT Smith has a doctorate in football. So, I finally convinced him to start producing some of his own thoughts and breakdowns of the Steelers games in a less professional way than a YouTube video. Coach finally gave in, and the product is awesome. Below you’ll see his breakdowns of specific players, plays and situations which resulted in the Steelers 7th win of the season.
Let’s get to the breakdowns…
Patrick Queen
Steelers fans have been itching to see Queen have a dynamic performance like the one on display in Week 10, and he provided just that vs. the Commanders. Don’t just take my word for it, but even KT Smith believes he is getting better and better by the week.
Doing short film breakdowns from Sunday’s PIT-WSH game throughout the day. Patrick Queen up first. He improves every week in this defense. The WSH game was his best yet as a Steeler… pic.twitter.com/x0BF25PDVk

Cam Heyward
Captain Cam isn’t just a figurehead who was given one final contract at the end of a tremendous career, he’s playing like a man possessed. This isn’t just a one-game sample size for Heyward, but just the latest of his highlights which have helped solidify the Steelers defensive front.
Continuing with our video breakdowns from PIT-WSH. Next up: Cam Heyward’s big 4th quarter sack that killed a WSH drive and pushed them out of FG range. Steelers were down 6 at the time and subsequently drove for the game-winning TD. pic.twitter.com/Xg5HeVzntO

Power Running
Who doesn’t love some old-school power running? The Steelers brough out some of those old power plays with pulling guards and downhill runs. It’s a thing of beauty…
PIT-WSH breakdowns, continued: Steelers best run play on Sunday was old-school Power. Physical, downhill scheme they executed flawlessly. Check it out: pic.twitter.com/pJFgT8rTDV

Keeanu Benton
Benton hasn’t been lighting up the stat sheet as many had hoped he would in his sophomore season, but don’t think he isn’t making an impact along the defensive line. In fact, there are plays like this one which might go rather unnoticed, but had a huge impact on the game Sunday in Washington.
Finishing up our PIT-WSH breakdowns with a huge play from Keeanu Benton in the closing minutes to help stop Washington’s final drive. Check it out ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/ErNGJJ5tn3
