Could the Browns Draft Braden Fiske from Florida State?

In a few short weeks the NFL will hold its annual College Football Draft in Detroit Michigan. The Cleveland Browns for the third year in a row will be without a first-round pick. This is because of the 2022 Deshaun Watson trade. In the last two years the Browns have found value in later round draft picks. 2022 CB Martin Emerson was a third-round pick that played like a first rounder and 2023 OT Dewand Jones was a fourth-round pick that started at right tackle before getting injured last season. Could the Browns find similar value in 2024?

Florida State Defensive Tackle Braden Fiske could be on the Cleveland Browns draft radar trying for that value. He is a big body DT standing 6’ 5” and weighing 298 lbs. At Florida State in 2023 he registered 6 sacks and 17 solo tackles. He totaled 43 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, and he started all 13 games last season. He just turned 24 years old last January. He also was impressive at last February’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis IN.

Fiske ran the 40-yard dash in 4.76 seconds and has a 1.68 second 10-yard split. He could build up strength in NFL. His bench press of 225 lbs. was for only 26 reps. He should be able to do 30 reps as an NFL Defensive Lineman. His strengths are his speed and agility to get into position to make tackles. His weakness is his lack of strength and ability to fight through double team blocks. What value could he bring to Cleveland Browns in the 2024 Draft?

Braden Fiske largest value to any NFL team would be his athleticism. His ability to draw double teams and open opportunities to other playmakers on defense. Browns defenders like DE Myles Garrett and LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah would benefit from a defensive tackle like Fiske. Some mock drafts have Fiske being taken well before the Browns pick in the second round. But you never really know how the draft will play out later this month. Maybe the Browns will find another first-round talent without a first-round pick.
