The long, sad losing streak in Philadelphia will linger on for at least another year as the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-13.

While the loss may sting, the Steelers now must turn their focus to what the real prize is: a heavyweight Divisional title fight with their bitter rival, the Baltimore Ravens.

Win, and the Steelers reclaim the AFCN throne and all but lock up the #3 seed with two games to play.

Lose, and the Division becomes a toss-up.

Of COURSE this is the most important game of the season.

Just as last week’s game was the most important game of the season.

And the one before that…

So let’s just get it over with and say, there ARE no easy games at this point of the season.

If you were to look ahead to next week, well, for the Steelers, that is now only 4 days away with the Chiefs game on Christmas Day.

Then it’s against the Bengals in Week 18, surely to be a tough, physical matchup testing the Steelers health heading into the Postseason.

Yeah, this IS the most important game of the season, no more hyperbole required.

Let’s do the dang thang… Time to reclaim the North!

Review

Corey – It was well documented that the Eagles are a team that starts games slowly offensively, before pouring it on in the 2nd half of games this year. It is also no secret that the Steelers are the same. So of COURSE I took the UNDER on the 1st half, and of COURSE that got blown out of the water (30 first half points combined).

Same with the OVER. Both teams score lots of 2nd half points all season long, and so in this game there was a grand total of…

…wait for it…

…10. Ten total points in the second half.

Siiiiiiigggghhhhhhh……

  • TOTAL POINTS UNDER (1st HALF) 21.5 pts (-110) MISS
  • TOTAL POINTS OVER (2nd HALF) 20.5 pts (-115) MISS
  • O/U 1.5 CHRIS BOSWELL FIELD GOALS (-120) HIT

TOTAL ODDS: +550

Winning Bet of $10 = $65.00

Jeff – Last week my parlay missed for the Steelers game vs. the Eagles, but what else is new? There was a time when I felt like as the season progressed I was getting better at picking my spots, but that has not been the case. My parlay struggles continue…

Here was my parlay from last week:

3 Leg Parlay

  • Jaylen Warren Receiving Yards: 25+ (+125) MISS
  • Mike Williams Receiving Yards: 40+ (+330) MISS
  • Russell Wilson Passing Yards: 225+ (+180) MISS

Another parlay ruined, but this was the first time this season I went 0-for-3 on my parlay. Then again, no one knew the Steelers offense would not just fall flat at times, but only run 11 plays in the entire second half. With that said, time to move on.

Dave – As I said, I did not like any kind of bet on this game. The results showed…

  • PIT moneyline for the 1st Quarter (+154) MISS
  • PIT points scored: OVER 19.5 (+114) MISS
  • The lowest scoring Quarter: 1st Quarter (+215) MISS

I banked on the Eagles holding their trends to start games which they did not. I think they just passed them to the Steelers to magnify theirs instead.

This Week’s Picks

Corey – It looks as if the Steelers are going to be without stud Wide Receiver George Pickens for a 3rd straight game. So it’s another opportunity for Mike Williams to get acquainted with AFCN “playoff atmosphere” football. He’s actually the right guy for this type of game: big bodied, possession receiver. This is his moment to shine and cement his legacy as a fan favorite in Pittsburgh with a big game against a bitter rival to cement the Division crown.

I have been saying it all year in the SCN Staff Picks article that one of these games is going to be won on the leg of who SHOULD be Steelers Team MVP this season: one Mr. Christopher (Wizard) Boswell. This guy continues to show that he deserves to be called the Steelers Franchise Best Ever Kicker, and this game is going to be won by 7 points or less, just like the last few games have been. Wizard of Boz for the win, and the North Crown.

  • Mike Williams +25 Rec Yds (+170)
  • Chris Boswell OVER 1.5 FG Made (-125)
  • TOTAL Points Band PIT: 21-30pts (+190)

Total Parlay Odds: +1000

Winning Bet of $10 = $110.00

Jeff – This week’s parlay…which I again went conservative with, feels like a bunch of safe plays. I said the same thing last week, and we know how that played out. That’s fine with me, sometimes you just need to get a winner to get you off the losing streak.

3 Leg Parlay

  • Russell Wilson Passing Yards: 225+ (+140)
  • Najee Harris Receiving Yards: 25+ (+245)
  • Jaylen Warren Receiving Yards: 25+ (140)

$10 bet = $110.00

In case you couldn’t tell, I think the Steelers will wisely use their running backs in the receiving game to keep the pass rush at bay, and get some free yards. Will the Ravens allow Warren and Harris to run wild like the Bengals did? I highly doubt it, but will they allow 25 yards receiving for both, I’m banking on it. At this point, I’ll just keep throwing stuff against the wall in hopes something will finally stick.

Dave – This week I’m banking on trends yet again. These games are typically close, so taking the points is a safe call. Also, Derrick Henry has never rushed for more than 75 against the Steelers. Even though the odds are lower on this one, I’m going more for the win than the big payout.

  • Jaylen Warren Receiving yards: 25+ (+115)
  • PIT Steelers: +6.5 (-112)
  • Derrick Henry Rushing yards O/U: UNDER 85.5 (-115)

Total Odds: +490

Winning Bet of $10 = $59.00
