A look at Washington Receiver Ja’Lynn Polk

The NFL College Football Draft is less than two weeks away. The Cleveland Browns for the third year in a row are without a first-round pick. The last two drafts Browns General Manager Andrew Berry has been able to find quality players in later rounds of the draft. CB Martin Emerson in 2022 was a third-round pick and OT Dewand Jones was a fourth-round pick. Could Berry find another quality player in the later rounds of the 2024 draft? Let’s look at a potential wide receiver prospect linked to the Browns; Washington Huskies receiver Ja’Lynn Polk could be available in later rounds of the 2024 draft.

Ja’Lynn Polk is 6’2” tall and weighs 204 lbs. He is a good-sized receiver.  At the NFL combine he clocked the 40-yard dash at 4.52 seconds with 1.52 seconds 10-yard split. He has speed as well. His size and his speed are his strengths. His weaknesses are his lack of burst and steadiness in his route running. He could be developed into a productive number 2 NFL receiver. He could be a quality player in the later rounds of the NFL draft.

The Cleveland Browns first pick in the 2024 draft is at number 54 in the second round. After that it is the 85th overall pick in the third round. Ja’Lynn Polk could be available at either of these picks. And the Browns could very well take him. He has been linked by mock drafts to go to the Browns. But those mock drafts are now outdated and were done before the Browns traded for Jerry Jeudy.

Since the trade for Jerry Jeudy, a number 2 wide receiver is not a glaring need for the Cleveland Browns. Ja’Lynn Polk would have been able to fill that need. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the Browns wouldn’t take him in the draft. I believe it depends on when he is available and what draft value Cleveland has on Polk. It is a question that hasn’t been answered and won’t be answered until the NFL Draft. We will have to wait and see.
