Erling Haaland Off To Unbelievable Start To PL Season

Erling Haaland has seven goals in three Premier League games so far this season… no other striker even has seven shots on target.

The Manchester City superstar is already beginning to solidify himself as the best striker in the league after taking home the Golden Boot in each of the last two seasons.

On Saturday, Haaland scored a hat trick against West Ham United in City’s 3-1 win to cap off a 3-0-0 start for the champs.

“Normally, teams drop more, but West Ham needed a goal and the line was higher and I had space to go in behind,” Haaland said.

Haaland’s hat trick marks his second in as many games after he put home a treble against Ipswich Town in City’s first home game last weekend.

Following those two performances, Haaland becomes just the second player in Premier League history to twice score hat tricks in consecutive games.

“What he needs is the team to give him more balls in the final third. We’re going to create those situations. He’s unstoppable, there’s no central defender, not even with a gun to stop him” Pep Guardiola said.

According to Guardiola, the main source of Haaland’s hot start has been the fact that he’s finally healthy after having a good offseason and preseason training.

“He’s playing much better in everything,” Guardiola said. “He stays 20 minutes or half an hour after training sessions. Last season not even once was he there because he didn’t feel good – tired, niggles.

“I feel good, I feel energized,” Haaland told Sky Sports. “I had a long vacation and preseason. I feel good.

The full health of Erling Haaland is a scary sign for City opponents as the Citizens go for their unprecedented fifth straight Premier League title and second treble in three seasons.

At the first international break, City sits atop the table with Liverpool as the only teams to have won each of their first three games of the season.

Manchester City’s next fixture is on Saturday, September 14th when they take on Brentford at home before opening their Champions League slate on the 18th against Inter in a rematch of the historic 2023 Champions League Final.
