2024 NFL Draft Player Profile: Georgia OT Amarius Mims
We are excited about our draft coverage here at FFSN this year, as we are adding something new to the fold. Between now and the NFL Draft, I will be writing individual player profiles on many of this year’s top prospects. Today, we continue the series with Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims.
Each of these breakdowns will include a brief background on the player, an in-depth scouting report, and a projection as to where he is likely to be selected in the NFL Draft. All of these articles can be found on our main FFSN NFL feed. Be sure to share these breakdowns with your fellow draft buddies on social media!

Bio and Profile
Height: 6’8″
Weight: 340 lbs
Rated as a composite five-star prospect by 247sports.com, the expectations for Mims have always been incredibly high. Playing behind two great collegiate tackles in Broderick Jones and Warren McClendon, Mims did not get a true opportunity to start until 2023, when he started seven games at right tackle. Despite having suffered an injury this past season, he heads into the draft with the expectation of being a first-round selection.
Scouting Report
Mims has only started in eight collegiate games, but in the games he played, we saw flashes of complete dominance. Likely a right tackle in the NFL, Mims is an absolute mountain of a man whose power and athleticism combine for a daunting force no defensive lineman or pass rusher will want to be faced against. For someone who plays at 340 pounds, Mims displays a rare amount of mobility, agility, and bend. He played over his feet on occasion this past season, and his pad level was also inconsistent at times, but more experience and NFL coaching should easily fix both of those issues.
I would say the greatest concern with Mims is that he suffered a high ankle sprain this past season, which required him to have tightrope surgery. Injuries to the lower extremities have historically had a greater impact on bigger athletes, which could definitely cause concern moving forward. As a player on the field, however, he looks the part of a future superstar. His development will be exciting to watch over his first few seasons.
Draft Projection
Mims’ range is anywhere from the Saints at Pick 14 all the way to the end of the first round. Ultimately, it comes down to how teams view his medical report. If a team is confident in his recovery from the ankle injury and do not see it as a long-term concern, there should not be anything preventing that team from selecting him, as he is easily one of the most gifted players in the draft. Inexperience may cause teams to hesitate, but that alone would not be enough for me to pass on him in the mid to late first round. I believe he is likely to be selected in Round 1, and if I had to guess, I would say he is taken in the 18-26 range.
