End of an Era: WWE Smackdown Finishes Five Years on Fox

Next week’s Smackdown will air on USA, as last night’s show wrapped up WWE’s five-year run on Fox.

WWE treated Smackdown as the “A” show during this time, as fans didn’t need cable TV to watch the show in prime time every week.

This month, WWE will air Raw, Smackdown and NXT on the USA Network. NXT will move to The CW on Oct. 1, and Raw will migrate to Netflix next year.

CAGE MATCH IS COMING

Cody Rhodes will put the WWE title on the line next week on the first show back on USA. Solo Sikoa will challenge for the belt in a steel cage match, after Cody teased giving the title shot to Jacob Fatu.

The Bloodline tried to attack the champion, but The Street Profits and #DIY came to the rescue.

That led to the main event, with The Bloodline winning an eight-man tag over the Profits and #DIY. Solo pinned Montez Ford with the Samoan Spike.

DON’T BLINK!

Giovanni Vinci made his debut as a solo performer on Smackdown after backing up Gunther in the Imperium faction.

Unfortunately, Vinci lost to Apollo Crews in seven seconds.

Bayley scored a big win over “Miss Money in the Bank” Tiffany Stratton. Bayley is looking to recapture the WWE women’s title from Nia Jax.

In other action, Chelsea Green defeated Michin, and Kevin Owens won a Triple Threat match over partners Austin Theory and Grayson Waller.

Andrade and Carmelo Hayes both stepped up to challenge LA Knight for the US title. They have defeated each other twice, so perhaps a rubber match will determine who challenges Knight for the title.
