Eagles Dominate Giants 28-3: 3 Takeaways from the Win

The Eagles finally won a game comfortably for the first time in what feels like forever. To be exact, it had been 364 days, and that’s far too long. The Eagles’ 28-3 victory over the Giants could mark a positive turning point for the team. Here are three key takeaways from the game:

Saquon Looked Great in His Return to NY (NJ)

Saquon Barkley delivered one of the best performances by a running back in an Eagles uniform this season. He finished with 17 carries for 176 yards and 1 touchdown, showcasing speed, aggression, and determination. Barkley is making a strong case for being the MVP of this team. This was clearly an emotional game for him—even if he won’t admit it—given that he likely wanted to prove to the Giants’ front office that they made a mistake by letting him go. Moving forward, the Eagles should focus on establishing the run with Barkley and using that to set up the passing game. That’s the blueprint for staying competitive right now.

The Defense Came to Play

At the start of the season, the Eagles’ defense struggled, and many people wrote them off early. However, I’ve always maintained that patience is needed with a Vic Fangio defense. It’s tough watching a unit falter, but learning such a complex scheme takes time, and bad games are part of the process. The defense is starting to click, and today was a prime example of that. They generated 8 sacks, allowed only 119 total yards, and gave up just 3 points. While the Giants were banged up and not at their best, games like these build confidence, and I expect that to show in the coming weeks. I’m really pleased with how the defense is coming together.

Jalen Hurts is Building Momentum

That’s two straight games with zero turnovers for Jalen Hurts, after a long stretch dating back to last season where he had at least one turnover per game. Not coincidentally, the Eagles have won both of those games. This kind of consistency is laying the foundation for a big performance later this year. Hurts didn’t need to do much in this win, but he delivered a perfect pass to A.J. Brown on fourth down for a touchdown. Hurts often faces unfair criticism, but if he keeps playing like this, he’ll continue to silence his doubters.
