Dallas Wings Fire Head Coach Latricia Trammell After Two Seasons
The Dallas Wings have announced that they have parted ways with head coach Latricia Trammell after two seasons at the helm.
2024 saw the Wings finish with a 9-31 record missing the postseason for the first time since the 2020 bubble season.
“After an extensive review of our basketball operations department, which included interviews and conversations with stakeholders across our organization, I have made the decision to relieve Latricia Trammell of her head coaching duties with the Dallas Wings,” said Wings CEO Greg Bibb.
“On behalf of our entire organization, I thank Latricia for her efforts and wish her well moving forward.”
Trammell led the Wings to their best season since moving to Dallas in 2016 in her first year at the helm last season.
Dallas finished the season at 22-18, good for fourth place in the WNBA standings. Trammell guided the Wings to their first-ever playoff series win by sweeping the Atlanta Dream in the first round before falling to the eventual champion Aces in the semi-finals.
2024 was not the same as the Wings who were decimated by injuries to pretty much every key player, leading to a 9-31 finish.
As a whole, Trammell finished 31-49 in two seasons in Dallas as the Wings’ seemingly short coaching cycle will continue.
In addition to brining in a new head coach, the Wings will be hiring a GM for the first time in team history.
““As part of our year-end review process, and in conjunction with our organizational long-term strategic planning, I have decided to expand and strengthen our basketball operations through the hiring of a General Manager who will oversee the day-to-day operation of our basketball group,” said Bibb.
“The search for this individual has already begun and I hope to have more news on this hire soon. The General Manager will lead the search for the next head coach of the Dallas Wings.
For Wings fans, the offseason of news has only just begun as it sounds like Dallas will have a new GM very soon and eventually a new head man to lead the Wings as they prepare for a move to downtown Dallas in 2026.
