BREAKING! Dak Prescott Re-Signs with Dallas Cowboys

The richest man in NFL history (for now). Dak Prescott receives a 4-year, $240 million deal from the Dallas Cowboys just hours before the team kicks off the season in Cleveland.

The league has been waiting for this deal to drop. The sides were reportedly on a different page due to the years, so they have settled on four years.

Prescott finished 2nd in MVP voting behind Lamar Jackson last year, coming off his best year with career highs in completion percentage (69.5%) and passer rating (105.9). Prescott also totaled 4,516 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and just 9 interceptions in 2023.

The team’s main offseason gripes with the fanbase have been their inactive free agency period and not re-signing CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott. Now before their first game, both their star quarterback and wide receiver are paid and locked into the Cowboys’ plans long-term.

Prescott’s contract makes him the highest-paid quarterback and player in NFL history, which is the general protocol for new contracts. Prescott’s deal will be superseded by quarterbacks in the future like 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy potentially getting more when his deal is up.

Prescott was never going anywhere, it was just a matter of when the deal would get done. I called it on Dad and Da ‘Boys, a podcast on Fans First Sports Network centered around the Dallas Cowboys and a father-son duo bonding over their favorite team. You can listen to the latest episode here, covering the Browns-Cowboys game.

Everyone should be thrilled this deal was done, especially Cowboys fans. Dak Prescott is not the issue in Dallas. He provides stability at the most important position on the field, and after the 2023 campaign he had, the dollar amount would’ve only gone up the longer the team waited. The Cowboys enter the Browns game Week 1 with a motivated Dak Prescott and a motivated CeeDee Lamb in pursuits of getting deeper in the players.
