Could the Cleveland Browns Draft Ashton Jeanty in April?

If the 2024 NFL Season ended this week, the Cleveland Browns would have the 3rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft in April. After losing to the Saints last Sunday the Browns now have a 2-8 record with injuries starting to pile up again for this team. The chances of the Browns making the playoffs are effectively over at this point. With 8 losses already it is time to start looking towards the future of this team and organization. What changes could be on the horizon for the Cleveland Browns?

Rumblings amongst the fan base are getting louder to replace the head coach Kevin Stefanski and that is par for the course when the team is 2-8. I am not hearing as much about the front office or higher executive positions. I would anticipate changes will be made after a disappointing season like this. NFL rosters always have turnover, I would expect the team to get younger. I am not sure yet if the head coach will be fired. If that does happen? I would expect it to be after the season is over on January 5th ,2025, in Baltimore. Regardless with the high draft pick, which direction would the Browns go in the draft?

Many mock drafts will have a high draft pick going to a quarterback. However, I think the Browns might take a different approach to this pick. Of course, it all depends on where they end up picking in the first round. An interesting prospect is Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. The 5’ 9” 215 lbs. running back is getting the attention of NFL scouts. In 2024 he has 1,893 rushing yards, on 256 carries, 26 touchdowns, and a 7.4 yards per carry average. The stats do jump off the page for this young man.

It is way too early to know what the Browns are going to do in the 2025 off season. However, I don’t see the analytics driven front office taking a running back with the 3rd overall pick. But that also depends on who will be running the team?
