Texas Tech has a leadership problem

Texas Tech is officially reeling. After the defense was dissected by ACU, the offense completely collapsed against a poor Washington State team. The consensus after that game was Texas Tech beat themselves and Washington State just sat back and let it happen. The team looks undisciplined and poorly prepared, with no one taking accountability to wake this squad up.

The problem? A total lack of leaders. Behren Morton looks scared, who should be a natural team leader. Defensively, the linebacking group is the most talented but who in that secondary or on the DL is going to stand up and make a change? Who in that locker-room can shake this team awake?

But leadership is not just limited to the college kids. The real lack of leadership starts at the very top. Joey McGuire is not leading, he is following. He sees the nonsense going on and makes no effort to step in and fix it. Morton and the passing attack were completely grounded, but he is not going to get on the horn and make Kittley find another way besides endless screens and concepts Morton was not up to executing?

The lack of preparation is astounding, the lack of the staff taking charge and motivating this team is astounding, and the decision making being this bad is astounding. Until Joey McGuire takes charge of his damn team and starts leading, this program is doomed.
