Offensive Player of the Week: Ground and Pound

The passing attack against Tarleton State was frankly anemic. But the ground game, the ground game shined. Obviously against an FCS opponent you can kind of bully-ball your way through the game. But, after weeks of not seeing any of the backs really even touch the ball this was a breath of fresh air.

My offensive player of the week is fittingly then Tahj Brooks. Before I dive into Brooks, I want to give a nod to Nehemiah Martinez who was spelling the injured Valdzez. He deserves a big round of applause for being deceptively shifty despite limited experience in the backfield and really did a great job.

Now onto the man of the week, Tahj Brooks. Brooks was just a man amongst boys out there. He showed off the full range of his arsenal. You saw the big play ability on the 38-yard scamper. You saw him decisively hit the hole and punish defenders at the second level with his big body. He has all the tools of a future NFL running back, and he finally was allowed to eat.

He set a career high with 19 carries and 158 yards, the only thing he lacked was a TD. Outstanding game, maybe it is finally Brooks time in West Texas.
