Game Preview: Abilene Christian

Keith Patterson is coming back to Lubbock, leading the Abilene Christian Wildcats who will look to derail Texas Tech right out of the gates. These previews will ordinarily be far more detailed I swear, but for game on against a hopefully overmatched opponent I will be pretty brief. Two keys to the game on each side of the ball, and a prediction will be the standard format. Let’s get right into it!

Offensively: Be Yourself

Against an ACU team that cannot hang with you, focus on your stuff. Don’t get cute, drill the stuff you know will form the baseline of your offense all year. If Tech is digging into their playbook to win this game, something has gone horrifically wrong. Just be yourself, get Tahj and Morton broken into the new year, and be efficient beating up on ACU.

Defensively: Generate Pressure

This key will be fairly reoccurring I imagine, but against a middle-tier FCS program it will really be a factor. Get home early and often, just absolutely eat ACU alive up front and save the more exotic blitz packages for next weekend so Washington State cannot see the film and get ready,

Prediction:

Like I said, these previews will be way more detailed after this week. I don’t want to overthink or overanalyze a blowout. Texas Tech should not struggle after the first two drives to do whatever they want, and if they are the red flags will be flying early. 52-13 Red Raiders have a shutout pitched until the dogs are called off in the fourth quarter.
