College Football Week 6: Best Bets For Thursday & Friday Night

Thursday, Oct. 3: Texas State -13 vs. Troy

Texas State’s passing attack is as good as ever. The Bobcats have been able to move the ball through the air this season while the defense has been able to get at opposing quarterbacks. The defense is second in the nation in sacks. Pair that with a strong offense and Texas State can take control of this contest.

Friday, Oct. 4: Oregon/Michigan State under 52.5

There is always a thought that Oregon will explode in this one. The Ducks have put it together recently but the number might be high enough to back the over. Michigan State has turned the ball over 13 times through four games. That remains a problem for quarterback Aidan Chiles. It is hard to imagine the Spartans score enough for this game to go over.

Friday, Oct. 4: Syracuse +6 vs. UNLV

Kyle McCord has looked better on a smaller stage at Syracuse this season. He will lead the best offense that UNLV has faced this season. There is an overreaction to the Rebels massive victory over Fresno State last week. No matter who was playing quarterback, UNLV was going to have an edge in that one. The team rallied in the absence of Matthew Sluka following his NIL fiasco. Now that is in the rearview and it is a good time to fade the Rebels, especially as a favorite close to a touchdown.

Friday, Oct. 4: Houston +16.5 vs. TCU

TCU has covered the spread one time this season. It is expected to be a high-scoring game, which means Houston can keep up. The number is three scores and that seems high fir an inconsistent TCU team that is difficult to trust. Houston put up a lackluster performance last week against Iowa State. The Horned Frogs defense isn’t as stout. The Cougars attack has just enough to keep up in this one.
