College Football: Early Coaches Poll Top 25 Preseason Prediction

The start of the 2024-25 college football season is nearly two months away.

Week 0 is scheduled for Aug. 24 and fans will get the chance to see live football back on their television. This will be another action-packed year full of drama across the entire fall.

Below, check out an early version of the Top 25 rankings this season.

Early Top 25 Prediction

Top 5

1. Georgia

Carson Beck is back for the Bulldogs and there are high expectations in Athens once again. These expectations come with a loaded regular-season schedule that includes Clemson, Alabama, and Texas. Georgia will be battle tested once again. The Bulldogs are 46-2 over their last 48 games. Despite being left out of the CFB Playoff last season after a loss I the SEC Championship, Georgia might have been the best team in the nation. It will enter the 2024-25 season at the top once again.

2. Ohio State

Ohio State has been unable to top Michigan in each of the last three years and this means that there has been no Big Ten title. This year, the Buckeyes will be the favorites in the conference. It was a busy offseason for Ohio State. Ryan Day added Chip Kelly to his staff to call plays. The Buckeyes also landed Will Howard and Quinshon Judkins in the transfer portal.

3. Texas

Quinn Ewers returned to Texas after leading the Longhorns to the CFB Playoff last season. Texas won 12 games in its final season in the Big 12. Steve Sarkisian went to work in the transfer portal to make sure the Longhorns were ready for their first season in the SEC. This includes Alabama’s Isaiah Bond and Oregon State’s Silas Bolden. This was a major point of emphasis after both Xavier Worthy and AD Mitchell were drafted into the NFL. It will be a difficult road for the Longhorns but the foundation is there to have another big-time year.

4. Oregon

Dan Lanning has been at Oregon just two years but the Ducks seem to be all the way back. Now, Dillon Gabriel takes over under center to replace Bo Nix and hopes to keep the offense in good standing. The Ducks will be tested against Ohio State this season, along with Michigan and Wisconsin. The newly-minted Big Ten Oregon added some offensive firepower in the portal for Gabriel to work with as well.

5.Alabama

Alabama might be the most intriguing team in the nation this year after Nick Saban announced his retirement in the offseason. Kalen DaBoer took over after totaling a record of 104-12 in his previous three jobs. The Crimson Tide lost plenty of talent to the NFL and transfer portal, but this is nothing new for the program. Jalen Milroe returning gives Alabama an experienced quarterback while running backs Jamarion Miller and Justice Haynes make up an elite duo. Alabama will be as tough as ever in its first season following the coaching change.
