College Basketball: Early Top 25 Rankings Prediction For 2024-25

The 2024-25 college basketball season is still ways away but it is never too early to begin looking at the Top 25.

Below, take a look at an early prediction of the preseason Top 25 rankings.

Early Top 25 Prediction

1. Kansas

It was a disappointing season for Kansas last year after acquiring Hunter Dickinson. This year, Dickinson is back and the Jayhawks continued to be aggressive in the portal. This includes the addition of AJ Storr, Zeke Mayo, and Rylan Griffen. Bill Self might not be done building this team either. The Jayhawks will be back in 2024-25.

2. Duke

Duke made a run in the NCAA Tournament last season but fell short of the Final Four. Now, the Blue Devils welcome the top recruiting class in the nation. It is led by No. 1 prospect Cooper Flagg and projected lottery pick Khaman Maluach. Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster also return for Duke. Jon Scheyer will have plenty to work with in Duke’s rotation this season.

3. UConn

Dan Hurley is saying in Storrs and the hope for a three-peat is there for UConn. Incoming freshman Liam McNeeley is expected to make a big impact in his first season with UConn. Alex Karaban is back and Hassan Diarra will take over as the point guard this season. The reigning national champions have the makings of another elite group this season.

4. Houston

LJ Cryer and J’Wan Roberts decided to return for their final year of eligibility and the Cougars are back in contention for a top spot in the nation. Houston remains an elite defensive team and will hope to bring an offensive burst on their way to a Final Four.

5. Alabama

Alabama will be in contention for the top spot in the preseason rankings but how much will we value this Crimson Tide team? Alabama might have added three starters in the transfer portal — Cliff Omoruyi, Chris Youngblood, and Aden Holloway. Mark Sears is back as well after averaging 21.5 points per game last season. The high-flying Tide are back after making a run to the Final Four last season.
