Cody Rhodes to Face Kevin Owens in Ladder Match at Royal Rumble
Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis was not happy that Kevin Owens stole Cody Rhodesâ âwinged eagleâ title belt on Saturday Nightâs Main Event.
At the end of last nightâs Smackdown, Aldis demanded that Owens return the belt. This prompted Rhodes to come to the ring.
He said he wanted to take the belt back in the ring and challenged Owens to a ladder match at Royal Rumble.
Owens accepted and attacked the champion and Aldis.
Royal Rumble will take place on Feb. 1 in Indianapolis.
NIGHT OF ACCUSATIONS
Before the opening match, WWE womenâs champion Nia Jax accused Bianca Belair of attacking her own partner, Jade Cargill.
Jax should have been more concerned with her own partner, Tiffany Stratton, who almost cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase against Jax during the match.
Naomi, Bayley, and Bianca won the match over Jax, Stratton, and Candice LeRae.
Who attacked the Street Profits? Pretty Deadly said it was Los Garza (Angel and Berto). So the Profits defeated Los Garza in the ring.
But wait! Later in the show, Apollo Crews said it was actually #DIY who attacked the Profits.
Considering the fact that #DIY took the Profitsâ title match and won the belts, Detective Crews may be on to something.
BLOODLINE ATTACK
Sami Zayn said he wanted to battle Bloodline 2.0. Instead, he got attacked by the Bloodline during his match against Carmelo Hayes. Zayn won by disqualification.
Braun Strowman defeated Austin Theory after a running powerslam.
Chelsea Green dressed up as the Statue of Liberty for her celebration for becoming the first womenâs United States champion.
Michin broke up the party by attacking Piper Niven with a kendo stick as Chelsea escaped.
Starting next week, Smackdown will expand to three hours.
