Cody Bradford Strong Yet Again, Offense Not As Rangers Fall 3-0 To Pirates
The Texas Rangers have lost their last seven series, the last time Texas took a series victory was way back on July 25th when they finished off a four-game sweep of the lowly Chicago White Sox.
On Tuesday night, Texas had a chance to clinch the set against the Pittsburgh Pirates but we saw just why the Rangers haven’t taken a series this month.
The Rangers managed just three hits and didnât get a runner past first base in their 4-0 loss to the Pirates at Globe Life Field on Tuesday.
As a whole, the Texas offense managed just three hits (all singles) and no walks. That is their 2nd fewest base runners in any game this season and fewest at Globe Life Field since a 0-2 loss vs Baltimore on 4/3/23 (2).
Mitch Keller who got the start for the Pirates was outstanding as he earned the win after going seven shutout innings.
âHeâs a good pitcher and he had his good stuff tonight,â Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. âYou gotta battle and thatâs all you can do and hopefully somebody gets you going but we just couldnât get guys on base, we couldnât put pressure on him and youâre gonna have nights like this, I get itâ.
On the pitching side of things, the Rangers got yet another good start from Cody Bradford.
Bradford cruised through the first three innings, needing just 32 pitches to retire the Pirates in order. However, the second time through the lineup caused some trouble for Bradford.
Pittsburgh scored three runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Overall for Bradford, it was a very solid day other than the fourth inning. Bradfordâs final line on the night would read 7IP 5H 3R 8K 0BB.
However, if you factor out the fourth inning which he gave up three runs on four hits, Bradford allowed just one hit and faced just one over the minimum.
âI think [Carson] Kelly and I had a good plan, we knew what we wanted to do with them,â Bradford said after the game. For the most part, executed, except for a couple hiccups their in the fourth where he didnât expand the zone quite enoughâ.
Once again, itâs another good start for Cody Bradford who will be a key factor in the rotation for 2025 and beyond.
âI donât know if these next six weeks are all that important for him because we know how good he isâ Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. âWhat a great job heâs done whether it be starting or out of the bullpen he gave us a chance to winâ.
