Catching Up on the AEW Continental Classic
Kyle Fletcher is emerging as the next big star in AEW during the Continental Classic tournament.
The former member of the Aussie Open tag team scored a breakout win over Will Ospreay on pay-per-view and has been unstoppable so far in the C2 Tournament.
Let’s catch up with all of the recent tournament matches that took place Friday on Rampage and Saturday on Collision.
RAMPAGE
Kazuchika Okada defeated Mark Briscoe with the Rainmaker lariat. Okada has won four of these round-robin tournaments in New Japan (the G1 Climax) and is the current Continental champion.
Daniel Garcia defeated The Beast Mortos, and Ricochet won the high-flying main event over Komander.
In a non-tournament match, The Vendetta (Deonna Purrazzo & Taya Valkyrie) defeated Freya States & Ella Elizabeth.
COLLISION
Darby Allin defeated Komander to kick off Collision in Columbus, Ohio, which was part of the GalaxyCon comic-book convention.
Komander has zero points in the Gold League. Claudio Castagnoli is on top with six points. The other four wrestlers have three points each.
Fletcher scored a stunning victory over Okada after a brainbuster. Fletcher is now far ahead in the Blue League with nine points.
Mark Briscoe defeated Daniel Garcia in the main event with the Cut-Throat Driver.
OTHER ACTION
Willow Nightingale defeated Serena Deeb. Willow will face Jamie Hayter next week on Collision. The winner will compete in a four-way at Wrestle Dynasty in Tokyo on Jan. 5.
The Beast Mortos picked up a non-tournament win over Aaron Solo.
Mina Shirakawa defeated Emi Sakura while Thunder Rosa scouted the match. Mina will challenge AEW women’s champion Mariah May on Wednesday’s “Winter Is Coming” episode of Dynamite.
