Carolina Hurricanes Forward is the Most Underrated Free Agency Signing
There are always free agency winners and losers. Some contracts look extremely good and others not so good depending how the player is performing. One team that was talked about a lot during the free agency period was the Carolina Hurricanes.
The main topic regarding them is the pieces they lost. Losing Teuvo Terravainen, Brady Skjei, Brett Pesce, and Jake Guentzel was a tough pill to swallow. However, the Hurricanes have overcome those losses and have been one of the top teams in the metropolitan division. What people need to talk about is their additions. One of the most underrated additions of this offseason was forward Jack Roslovic.
Roslovic Was a Sneaky Good Addition
The Hurricanes have become familiar with Roslovic over the years. He spent time with the Columbus Blue Jackets before making his arrival to the Big Apple. The Hurricanes met up with the Rangers in the playoffs. Roslovic was a force for the Rangers, notching eight points in 16 games during that run in 2023-24. They are familiar with his game and he was the perfect fit for the team given their losses.
Roslovic has been a 30+ point player twice and has also surpassed the 40 point mark twice. Also, he is a one time 20 goal scorer. He plays with good speed and has a really nice shot. He is the perfect complimentary piece on a contending team.
Roslovic has show he can slot up and down the lineup over his career. The fact he was available for so long is a mystery and the one year $2.9 million contract he signed is looking like a bargain and the most underrated signing of the summer.
Roslovic Delivering for the Hurricanes
What a gem by the Hurricanes in landing Roslovic. He is the perfect complimentary piece to this Hurricanes puzzle and gives them a boost offensively. Roslovic can thrive anywhere and so far has done very well for the Hurricanes.
In 19 games this season, Roslovic has 11 goals, which ties him with Martin Necas for the team lead. Also, given the current start he is on, he is on pace for 47 goals. That would shatter his career high of 22 he set during the 2021-22 season.
He has shown tremendous upside offensively. In all situations, Roslovic has generated 5.9 expected goals and has shattered those expectations by a sizable margin and has a whopping 22.9% shooting percentage.
Definitely he could do more and certainly needs to not giveaway the puck as much. Roslovic has been sensational in the faceoff circle and continues to do the right things for Rod Brind’Amour.
It’s been a tremendous signing by the Hurricanes, who seemingly always get the best use out of their depth. It is something that has made them good for so long under Brind’Amour and Roslovic continues to exemplify that.
