Bryan Danielson Wins AEW World Title, Avoids Retirement at AEW All In London
Bryan Danielson has been talking about retirement for nearly a year, and he almost hung up the boots last night.
But wrestling sometimes just wants to give you MORE, so the “American Dragon” beat Swerve Strickland to win the AEW World title last night at All In London.
Danielson won the WWE title ten years ago at WrestleMania 30, and now he’s had a huge stadium celebration in AEW with his wife, Brie Bella, and their kids.
ALL ABOUT MARIAH
“The Glamour” Mariah May won the AEW women’s title from “Timeless” Toni Storm with the champ’s own Storm Zero piledriver.
If you’ve been following the “All About Eve”-inspired story, this is the part where the ingenue takes over for the established star.
Chris Jericho opened the show by playing “Judas” with his rock band, Fozzy. However, he lost the FTW title to Hook, who is now a three-time champion.
The Young Bucks retained the AEW tag team title by winning a Triple Threat match over FTR and The Acclaimed. Britain’s own Grizzled Young Veterans came out after the match to enter the title scene.
CASINO GAUNTLET
The Casino Gauntlet match featured the return of former ROH champion Nigel McGuiness to the ring after more than 10 years away from the ring.
Ricochet made his AEW debut in this match as well. Like Swerve Strickland, he will get more opportunities in AEW than he did in WWE.
Christian Cage won the match when Killswitch chokeslammed Kyle O’Reilly after teasing a return to his “Luchasaurus” persona.
Will Ospreay defeated MJF to recapture the International title and retire the American branding of the championship.
Daniel Garcia prevented MJF from cheating, and Ospreay took Danielson’s advice and won with the Tiger Driver ’91.
PAC also made the English fans happy by winning the AEW trios title. He teamed with Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli to win a four-way ladder match over The House of Black, The Bang Bang Gang, and previous champions The Patriarchy.
Mercedes Mone and Jack Perry retained their TBS and TNT titles with victories over Dr. Britt Baker DMD and Darby Allin, respectively.
The Young Bucks tried to set Allin on fire after Perry threw him in the coffin to win the match.
But wait! Who’s that coming to save Darby?
It’s STING!
