Bryan Danielson Reveals Neck Injury Before All In Championship Match
If Swerve Strickland needed a game plan for his AEW World title defense against Bryan Danielson at the All In pay-per-view, his challenger just gave it to him.
In a sit-down interview with Jim Ross on last night’s AEW Collision, Danielson revealed that he would probably need neck surgery before the end of the year.
Danielson earned a title shot by winning the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, and his fans dreamed about him winning the championship in front a packed Wembley Stadium in London on Aug. 25.
That could still happen, but any chances of a long reign filled with classic title defenses (like he produced in Ring Of Honor) seem very unlikely.
Swerve issued an open challenge for Collision, and he defeated Tomohiro Ishii with the House Call kick.
TRIOS TURMOIL
The Bang Bang Gang and The House of Black battled in the Collision main event. The winners would face The Patriarchy for the AEW Trios title at All In.
Christian Cage was the referee, and his Patriarchy teammates attacked both squads, causing a no-contest. This usually means a Triple Threat bout is on the way.
Darby Allin teamed with high-flying newcomer Hologram to win the opener over The Premier Athletes (Tony Nese & Josh Woods).
THE LADIES OF HARDCORE WRESTLING
Thunder Rosa and Deonna Purrazzo wrapped up their feud, as Rosa won a Texas bullrope match. AEW’s ladies are not afraid to get extreme, as Diamante and “Legit” Leyla Hirsch had an amazing Texas Death match last month on the ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view.
In other Collision bouts, FTR defeated The Outrunners; Rush beat former teammate Preston Vance; and Hikaru Shida squashed Aleah James.
Shida issued a challenge to TBS champion Mercedes Mone for this Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.
